The start to 2016 has been one of regrowth in the club. We are beginning to regain membership and hope to be back to levels that we had prior to the economic downturn. The SeaWind class is growing and the introduction of the Dragon Force 65 class have made getting into the sport much easier economically.
A few notes:
1. Tom L, sailng an RG65, in the big boat class was just a few points out of placing much higher with a boat 12″ shorter than the rest of the class, won a race and is just learning his boat. Anyone with an RD 65 that wants to sail is very welcome.
2. Racing was for the most part very close with many boats overlapped at the finish.
3. Newcomer Glen P. won a race and will add a lot to the fleet.
Winds – 5-8 kts

Great sailing weather and the pond was very high after the rains this week. A couple new folks stopped by and tried sailing with us and they say they’re coming back.
Nice day sailing yesterday. Pond was quite high after a week of rain. We spent some time upgrading the main dock and will relaunch the dock next Sunday!
E to SE winds from 2-8kts 21 lengthy races for the day. We moved many of the marks that had gotten out of position from some storms and that improved course layouts. We will continue to monitor the positioning to further improve the ability to set good weather marks.
I a couple of weeks we will be having a tuning session at the pond for anyone who wishes to attend.
Excellent wind and good competition marked the first weekend of the racing season. The nice ESE breeze led to a total of 24 long course races. Congrats to Chris for winning his first race!
It’s a sad day for the club as I was informed by Ed Mooney’s daughter that he passed away on Wednesday. Ed was one of the regulars at the club and went from a beginner to winning a lot of races. I think we can take some solice in that, I believe, his last activity was sailing with the club just prior to his entering the hospital so he have one final chance at the activity he loved so well.
Ed, we’ll miss you old friend, and you’ll always be with us!

The club continues to attract visitors and interest in getting into the sport. In discussing the possibilties of joining the club it looks like we will support the re-emergence of the Victoria Class for the club. The price performance for a starter boat is very attractive in this economy. We will continue to suggest SeaWind and Micro Magic for those with a little more budget.
